OUR DANK STORY

It all started in Istanbul, Turkey, where The Dank Project's Founder used to live. Turkey is a country brimming with creative talents often unseen by either language barriers or/and a series of other issues. These artists offer a unique perspective that diverges from the typical notions of Turkish art.

Turkish artists skillfully blend contemporary and historical elements, reflecting their country's diverse culture and heritage – and that was always a great point of admiration. The platform started to create a space to display small Turkish artists by profiling them in a web-zine-style article page.

On a pandemic exhaustion of the insides, the whole idea -- and website -- was born. Its founder and one of her great friends, Abdo Belkhayat, used to be flatmates in Istanbul, so this wave of creativity between them was the beginning of a creative supportive platform.

The artists approve the articles before publishing to guarantee integrity in sharing their stories. Some incredible fun to quote is interviewing the pioneers of analog photography, cameras, and films in Istanbul, Rıfat Tunç FotoÄŸrafçılık, and one exceptional article, where we were able to shed light profiling the inspiring community called Girls Skate Turkey.

A CREATIVE SUPPORTIVE PLATFORM

A creative supportive platform is a space where artists and creators can grow and express themselves. It provides the resources, community, and encouragement individuals need to nurture their creative talents and showcase their work.

THE DANK PROJECT POSTER

The Dank Project is exercising its PROJECT, broadening and expanding our platform to accommodate upcoming projects. We now define The Dank Project as a creative supportive platform. Through our articles, curation, and journalistic endeavors within The Dank Journal, we strive to share compelling stories from creators you might never have had the chance to encounter.

In addition to the Project, we have The Dank Kitchen. This column will be helmed by Alison Jenster, a Danish-American filmmaker, marketer, and passionate private chef. With a deep love for global travel and a penchant for exploring local cuisine in charming, off-the-beaten-path eateries, Al takes a culinary journey through her evocative narratives and even shares some delectable recipes.

We still have two great arms on the Project to be announced in 2024.

We are designed to showcase the talents of emerging small artists through different forms. If you are a creator or know a creator, if you want to drop us a suggestion, a pitch, or any other form of contact, please check our Contact page, and let's keep in touch. Never drop your local creators!
