A nostalgic 90’s vibe combined with the urge, almost a necessity, of continuing producing creative assets. That is how the duo Miray Suzer and Pelin Tascı created the newly released – and yet, already successful – accessory & clothing brand Pemy Store.

Best friends and business partners, Pelin & Miray

Best friends, housemates and complementary pieces on their business, Miray is graduated in Economics and was always doing her thing on the corporative business world, while Pelin is graduated in Psychology and saw herself also falling into the corporative business world for a long moment. The duo decided to joint forces and create a business both inspiring and artsy and start to be their own boss.

From this strong combination the first models of daisy necklaces and bracelets were born, and that was the kicking start point of the brand, that now has a far bigger catalogue of products made by women artisans in Anatolia, such as handmade raffia bags and baskets, punch pillows, ceramics and beaded charms and also, accessories for men. “We thought that this was a good business opportunity to bring daisy models back with a ‘comeback’ concept in Turkey. So, we did.”

Well, and gladly they did so. After the release of their first prototype products on their own Instagram pages, the support of friends encourage the girls to start it commercially, releasing the brand on July 2019.

“First, we made ourselves daisy necklaces and we felt really joyful while wearing them - they are our childhood models as well. We had a right feeling that we found our first product. Responses we got from people also supported our feelings because we got so many questions from people asking where to buy them” – Pelin and Miray.
The brand now goes beyond the accessories and also produces clothing and decor

The name is a combination of their name: PE of Pelin and MY of Miray. About their references? The girls explain that the inspiration comes from everything – from vacations, brands, friends, moods, color boards and so on. “Sometimes even our feelings are the references. For example we have a t-shirt that says ‘Feeling Crabby’, and feeling like a crab was our reference point for that”, they explain.

As per handling a business on a very complicated year such as 2020, where we see brands being discouraged of keep going, the girls explain their main point is to keep talking directly with their audience showing the support feeling of “we are all in this together” and the most important: keeping the authenticity.

“Pemy is a lifestyle brand with women empowerment at its core” the girls told The Dank Project. “Pemy offers a mix of women and men accessories and home product assortments that will bring joy and excitement. While doing this, Pemy empowers women by working with local women artisans in Anatolia, who support their families with handicrafts.”

“That’s why having a small business felt like we are really helping our customers and directly affect their daily lives to some extent”, they affirm. “Such as carrying out some live sessions, #pemyfriends account takeovers, asking them how they feel, or putting small stickers inside the packages to make them happy. This is what excites us more about Pemy.”
