The definition of Random Chronology personified, with the desire of bringing a new concept to fashion. That is how the Turkish Fashion Designer Cansu Kip started her own design brand, Random Chronology (RCRON).
What started in 2018 as customized creative t-shirts is now, as defined by Cansu, “a time capsule of core classics supported by the power of art and contemporary culture.” What does that suppose to mean, you might ask? A different concept with very inventive tailoring. RCRON is a sustainable brand that reflects also it’s owners’ style. “I wanted to make something customized, sustainable and affordable for everyone”, explains Cansu.
Inspired by sustainability and helping, in the hope of saving the world with her art ,the Designer tells TDP how she aims to produce less pieces to-besides creating something unique and special- bring to life a gathering point where a collective of people with voices from art, fashion and music backgrounds are involved into the composition of an unexpected everyday closet.
When you access the website - the only way to purchase her designs at the moment - you have a long list of pieces that explore one-piece jumpers, t-shirts, bomber jackets, oversized blazers, tailoring pants and more - all in different colors and materials. You will also find out that everything can be done and customized to your size and wishes: the idea is to create the perfect piece based on her initial idea of colors and shapes.
“I manufacture less products to leave it open to the possibility of customization. We won’t say no to a customer’s request. When someone contacts me wanting to change the size, for example, or explore a new color on some already developed piece, we make sure to make it happen”, Cansu tells The Dank Project.
The catalogue of pieces remains the same during the whole year, and from time to time Cansu releases a new capsule collection in partnership with other Istanbul creators - or maybe just because she felt creative and decided to do so.
Dividing her time between her everyday job and her own brand, Cansu already informed that this year she will release a fixed drop 2.
When asked about how to keep herself creative on quarantine, the fashion designer says that embracing the free time is also a tool to keep herself creative. “In quarantine you have more time to think and investigate. It also changed my perspective about the conditions for marketing and producing a product. I can say that you need to focus your digital communication way more than before, and that somehow also increases creativity.”
About the future? Her dream is to make a fashion show. “Of course, everything adapted to this whole digital new era we are facing. I also want to add exportation of products abroad and grow my own designs”, finalizes.
Rcron was inspired by the Mobious Theory. The name Rcron is short for Random Chronology (It was discovered independently by the German mathematicians August Ferdinand Möbius and Johann Benedict Listing in 1858).
